添好運 Tim Ho Wan @ Westgate!

The world's cheapest Michelin Star restaurant! It has opened 4 outlets all around Singapore within a short span of a year.

We went during a weekday afternoon, so there was just a short queue. Anyway, small group(2-3 pax) are generally seated in the restaurant pretty quickly! Although the restaurant is in a mall, it gets pretty hot after you started eating.

H1 - Baked Bun w/ BBQ Pork $4.50++

S: One of the Big 4 Heavenly King Dim Sum! These buns hold the title not for no reason! I am generally not a char siew bun person, but I love these tim ho wan's buns. The exterior is crumbly yet soft, and the BBQ pork is soft and juicy. It is actually like boluo pau, but it is not dry. A good combination of sweet and salty dim sum!

D: This is by far the best Char Siew Bun i've ever eaten! Seldom do we see char siew bun in these crusty skin! Do not be fooled by its crispy looking exterior! When you sink your teeth into it, it's actually soft! The BBQ pork inside is tasty and not chunky at all! The texture is just silky smooth. A definite must-order if you ever visit Tim Ho Wan!

H2 - Pan Fried Carrot Cake $4.50++

S: Also one of the Big 4 Heavenly King Dim Sum! I personally loves carrot cake a lot, but I find this carrot cake nothing extraordinary. Tried tim ho wan's carrot cake at another outlet previously and it was average, but this time the carrot cake tasted a bit bitter (like it's too burnt).

D: I'm not a carrot cake kind of person. But this carrot cake is very different from what we usually have. The texture of the interior is very smooth and melts in your mouth! Got to agree with Shwu on the poor quality of the carrot cake served this time tho!

R21 - Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf $5.00++

S: I love this dish! The glutinous rice is very well cooked - very soft and sticky as a whole. Loads of chicken meat and some mushrooms wrapped within the rice. It is really delicious and big in portion.

D: A very very filling dish! With alot of fillings and rice! One does not simply finish this dish by himself/herself! Would recommend up to 4pax at least to order 1 of this as its really filling and leaves you little spaces for other nice dishes they have to offer!

M2 - Jade Wanton in Laksa Soup (Monthly Special) $5.00++

S: The laksa soup tasted very local, but it was not too thick because there is lesser coconut milk in it. But nevertheless, the soup base is tasty. The wantons are very big, and they are wrapped with vegetables (Jiu cai). It is actually pretty good despite me disliking jiu cai. However, I feel that the wanton skin were a bit thick and not too soft.

D: Lovely laksa soup! Can't really taste coconut milk in it so i guess they didn't put any! I don't really like coconut milk so its really nice for me! I'm a fan of jiu cai so the wantons are really nice too! However, the fillings could contain abit less jiu cai to let the meat carry out more taste!

M1 - Yam Dumpling with Sweet Chili Crab Meat (Monthly Special) $5.00++

S: I think it is a very unique and creative dim sum? The exterior was very crispy and flaky. The chili crab meat was not too sweet so it was good. But it is quite spicy!

D: Hong kong style fried dumping with local flavour! This can't get any better! The filling is very nice and sweet! Recommend!

S10 - Pork Dumpling w/ Shrimp $5.00++
Commonly known as Siew Mai

S: Nothing extraordinary

D: Yup like Shwu says, it's just Siew Mais :)

Shrimp Vermicelli Roll $5.50++
Commonly known as Chee Cheong Fun

S: One of my favourite dim sum although it is nothing special. The skin is very soft and smooth and the shrimps were large and fresh.

D: Silky smooth skin with fresh and crunchy shrimps on the inside! A very exquisite dish! Sure it takes a lot of effort to make something this nice :)

Strictly no reservations allowed for all of their outlets. And all diners in the group must be present before you can be seated. Takeaways available!
